Quick and tasty motorhome dishes
A culinary journey
When camping, it is important to conjure up a delicious meal with simple means and as few ingredients as possible. You don't have to do without anything on your motorhome vacation. The following recipes can be prepared quickly and are also really tasty. They are the perfect alternative to ready meals from a tin.
Equipment for the camping kitchen
All Ahorn Camp motorhomes and vans have a fully equipped kitchen in which amateur and professional chefs can let off steam. In order to bring variety to the table and cook healthy meals when on vacation in a motorhome, basic equipment for the camping kitchen should be available. It should not be missing:
- At least one pot and preferably also a pan
- Salt, sugar, pepper and paprika as a basic set of spices
- Several knives, including paring knives and, if possible, a chef's knife
- Bowl, wooden spoon, spatula and whisk
- Cutlery and crockery
- You should also take pasta, rice and perhaps ketchup or pesto for emergencies.
- Possibly a mini oven (you can find suitable ovens here. )

A touch of Italy: gnocchi with prawns
This stew with gnocchi and prawns is not only delicious in Italy, but also when camping on the North Sea or Baltic Sea. All the ingredients are available in the supermarket.
You will need four portions:
- 500 gram gnocchi
- 400 g frozen prawns without heads and shells
- 1 eggplant
- 1 zucchini
- 100 grams baby spinach
- 1 tin of tomatoes
- 2 red chili peppers
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tablespoon of liquid honey
- 4 tablespoons of oil
- Salt, pepper, paprika powder
- 150 milliliters of water
The prawns must be completely defrosted. Wash them. Clean and wash the eggplant and zucchini and cut into small cubes. Wash the chili and cut into rings. Peel and finely dice the garlic. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil and fry the gnocchi for about 4 minutes. Remove the gnocchi and fry the prawns, chilli and garlic for about 3 minutes. Remove the prawns from the oil. Heat the remaining oil in the frying pan and fry the eggplant and zucchini. Add the tomatoes and water. Stir in the spices and honey, cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Sort and wash the spinach and add to the pan along with the gnocchi and prawns. Now just heat everything briefly and you're done.
Now it's getting oriental: lentils with feta and mint
This lentil dish is perfect for anyone who loves stews and oriental cuisine. Although the list of ingredients is a little longer, the stew is quick to prepare.
These are the ingredients for three to four portions:
- 600ml vegetable stock
- 300g lentils
- 3 peppers
- 2 zucchinis
- 250g cherry tomatoes
- 2 onions
- 2 garlic cloves
- 150 grams feta cheese
- 6 sprigs of mint
- 1 bunch of parsley
- Salt, pepper and a little maple syrup
Peel and dice the garlic and onions. Clean, wash and dice the vegetables. Wash the mint, pluck the leaves. Wash and chop the parsley. Place the zucchinis, peppers, lentils, onions, garlic and stock in a pan and bring to the boil, stirring constantly. Simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Finally, stir in the parsley, mint and spices. Serve with crumbled feta.

This mezze pan is quick to prepare. The ingredients for this oriental dish are available in the supermarket. Other cumin seeds can be used instead of cumin. The recipe makes four portions.
This is needed:
- 500g minced beef
- 3 eggs
- 3 tablespoons of sunflower seeds
- 2 teaspoons mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 chili pepper
- 1 garlic clove
- 2 red onions
- 2 teaspoons ayvar (Turkish paprika paste)
- Juice of half a lemon
- 1/2 bunch parsley
- Salt, pepper
Peel the onions and cut into rings. Peel and dice the garlic. Cut the chili into rings. Fry the spices. Add the oil, onions, garlic and chili and fry. Add the mince and fry. Chop the parsley and stir in. Add the eggs, stir in and allow to set. Stir in the remaining ingredients.
