With the camper van through Tuscany

Florence, Fiesole, Appenzellerland, Volterra, San Gimignano...

With the camper van through Tuscany - The journey began with a detour and overnight stay near Heidelberg, as the pick-up took place in Speyer.
On Saturday morning I was very kindly welcomed by the Maple team welcomed and instructed in the vehicle.

With all these new impressions, we set off in the direction of Munich to pick up my travel companion. After we had bought all the food we needed for the next two weeks, we were already on our way to our first destination. Once we arrived in South Tyrol, at the Three Peaks, the first day was over and night had fallen. We only had a quick meal because we wanted to take photos of the sunrise, so we had a very short night ahead of us.

The photos were in the box and we had already walked about 15 km on our pedometers. So breakfast was just right, which we enjoyed in the sun outside the camper. We continued our journey to Lake Garda via the Brenner Pass. Arriving at a parking lot in Garda, not far from the lake, we first stretched our legs and explored the town center and promenade. We ended the evening by the lake with a delicious pizza and our first glass of wine.

"Before we were about to close our eyes, we spotted the Milky Way in the sky!"

After breakfast, we went to a church (Madonna della Corona), which was built very close to the cliff. The next stop was to be a beautiful place right by the sea, which was built on the cliffs. Unfortunately, there were no options for parking/spending the night nearby with the camper. We therefore decided to drive on to a campsite that was close to the sea. The next day we continued into Tuscany, with small towns such as Volterra and San Gimignano on the agenda. Both towns are situated on a hill and you have a great view over Tuscany from up there. We found a great place to sleep below Volterra. After a short night, we went up to the town for sunrise. The atmosphere in the morning was super nice, very quiet and calm and we were really lucky with the weather.

After two more nights in Tuscany, where we visited a few small towns, more photo spots and a thermal spa, we went to a campsite in Florence. It was in the town of Fiesole and from there we had a view over the whole city. We stayed here for two nights so that we could simply leave the car behind. We visited Florence and the small town of Fiesole. Culinary-wise, both are an absolute recommendation.

We then drove back to Lake Garda, where we kept our feet in the water and enjoyed the last of the good pizzas. After dropping Caro off in Verona, I continued on to Switzerland. The temperatures got colder there, and we climbed to over 2000 meters in altitude. The next stop was Sankt Moritz. The route there took me over many mountain roads and passes with great views of the mountains and the surrounding area. Before I finally made my way back to Germany, I visited Appenzellerland in Switzerland and then set course for Speyer.

I really enjoyed the last few nights in the camper and had another good time with pasta and wine.
The drop-off in Speyer went without a problem and I received a very nice welcome again.
