YouTuber Illo and Mops on the road with the T690

Trip to Germany with Ahorn Camp
Most of us have fond memories of previous camping adventures - whether at the lake, in a tent or on a campsite with the family. Camping means freedom: no fixed meal times, new acquaintances and the opportunity to move on at any time. This is exactly what we appreciate about life in a motorhome.
We, Mops (34) and Illo (36), have been traveling Europe with our son (then 3) in a motorhome since May 2022. Originally at home in the Ruhr area, we sold our condominium, our car and our caravan to buy a motorhome. Because we are much more flexible with a motorhome: if it rains, we simply drive to the next sunny place.
Our decision: Life on four wheels
Our trip started as an experiment - we planned to be on the road for a year. However, thanks to a tip from our YouTube community (channel: Illo und Mops), we discovered that Illo could go on parental leave for two years. So we extended our trip and discovered Europe in a whole new way. From the North Cape to Sicily, through Morocco and the Canary Islands - we experienced winters that are unthinkable in Germany.
Our adventure became even more exciting when our second son was born in the summer of 2023. We returned to Germany for a short break and lived in a furnished apartment for 3.5 months before starting our journey again.
Ahorn Rent: Practical flexibility on our journey
It was particularly practical for us that Maple Rent has different locations. We rented a motorhome in Speyer in the south and dropped it off in Mülheim an der Ruhr. This allowed us to discover beautiful places and farms on the way home. We particularly enjoyed driving over Alpaca Camping stopped at farms.

Adventures on farms and in nature
Life in a motorhome with two children is not always easy - boredom can quickly dampen the mood, especially in the rain. That's why varied stops such as on farms are ideal. In Weiterstadt near Frankfurt, we experienced living with goats and pigs up close. The children had fun in the playground, while we enjoyed being close to nature.
With our borrowed Maple T690 we experienced the flexibility that a motorhome offers. Whether driving or setting up the sleeping areas, we gradually settled into our vehicle. The spacious single beds offered us and the children plenty of room.
