EY Entrepreneur Of The Year - Finalist Award
For 24 years, EY has been recognizing outstanding entrepreneurs for whom courage, vision and decisiveness are key values. This year, our Managing Director Alexander Reichmann is one of the 19 finalists. We report on the finalist award ceremony.
"If anyone asks me in future what entrepreneurial spirit means, I'll send them to Speyer to Ahorn Camp." This is how Rolf Piechowitz, Senior Relationship Manager at LGT Bank AG, praised Alexander Reichmann's speech at the presentation of the finalist award at our head office in Speyer. This is precisely why our CEO, Alexander Reichmann, is one of the 19 finalists in EY's "Entrepreneur Of The Year 2020" competition. Entrepreneurial spirit, determination and, of course, a team behind him that is constantly growing, acts with agility and adapts flexibly to dynamic conditions. This has also been recognized by EY's global network, which honors entrepreneurs for their extraordinary achievements every year. We are proud to be part of it. That is why we celebrated the presentation of this honorary award to Alexander Reichmann on 29.09.2020 in a small but festive circle. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Grathwol and Ms. Kremer from EY as well as all the guests who celebrated this success with us.
This year was also characterized by unforeseen changes and obstacles for us. In his speech, Mr. Reichmann mentions the high demand for the motorhome product, which has been increasing for years and especially this year, but also the challenges for the industry that have arisen as a result. We have drawn new strength from the changed conditions this year, driven forward changes and realigned our strategy. "We are all the more grateful to be able to use this moment to remind ourselves of everything we have achieved this year. And what a great product we sell thanks to a fantastic team," says Alexander Reichmann. He is also grateful to his father Joachim Reichmann, who was present, for giving him this responsibility and opportunity.
Receiving the finalist award and joining a list of important names among German entrepreneurs is a great honor. The big national online award ceremony will take place on October 22, 2020, where the winner will be chosen. We are also looking forward to this and are excited to see who will prevail over the 18 other finalists.

About Ahorn Camp and Alexander Reichmann as CEO
The company Ahorn Wohnmobile GmbH was founded in 1991 in the municipality of Ahorn in the Odenwald by engineer and investor Joachim Reichmann. Since then, the maple leaf with the silhouette of a motorhome has been the company's trademark. The company grew rapidly and became the general importer for the German market for several major Italian motorhome brands. For personal reasons, Joachim Reichmann took a break in 2006 and the Ahorn company ceased operations until 2013.
Alexander Reichmann, who graduated from high school in Rome, worked at Fiat in Frankfurt am Main after completing his international business studies. He joined his father's company in 2013, initially as the only employee and then as Head of Sales in the following years. He took over the management in 2017.
With the sales system of selling motorhomes via 3 own branches and via a symbiosis with the Renault car dealership, as well as the launch of its own rental system Ahorn Rent, turnover has continued to increase rapidly every year. Dynamic, young marketing that addresses the major requirements of flexibility, independence and sustainability when traveling is also being driven forward. This was also recognized this year for the fourth time with the Focus Growth Champion seal.
Ahorn now has 3 branches in Germany: the head office in Speyer, a sales office in Mülheim a.d. Ruhr and in Dietzenbach near Frankfurt, where one of the largest Ahorn Rent locations in Germany is located. 60 employees advise and support customers every day at the Speyer location on their way to self-determined travel by motorhome.
One of the company's goals is to continue to reach new customer groups. While the main customers used to be so-called "best agers", more and more young people are becoming interested in traveling by motorhome. According to Reichmann, today "anyone who is interested in traveling is a potential customer". The motorhome is simply "the better alternative" to many other established types of travel, such as package tours, cruises or traveling by car. Other goals include increasing brand value and market share, as well as promoting the topic of sustainability.
Ahorn Camp sees itself today as a company between tradition and modernity, with a young and dynamic appointment and looks optimistically to the future - with ambitions to continue to grow.
