The dream of independent travel
Being self-sufficient in a motorhome is a dream come true for many travelers. Away from the clichéd campsite vacation. But still not having to do without electricity and water. Exploring new routes, far away from the well-known tourist hotspots and spending the night under a clear starry sky.
But how can I fulfill this dream? How long can I be on the road with a self-sufficient motorhome? What do I need to consider when converting? Are there conversion packages for my motorhome? Where can I park my self-sufficient motorhome?
Self-sufficient camping is not suitable for everyone, as you need to be aware that you may have to sacrifice comfort and limit your use of electricity and water. For anyone who would like to experience this, we have put together some important tips below. We hope that this will make it easier for you to switch to self-sufficient camping.

Realize your dream of a self-sufficient motorhome.
Have your motorhome converted to be self-sufficient
The motorhome offers the best conditions for the independent lifestyle of self-sufficient travel. This makes it the perfect means of travel - room, kitchen, bathroom on 4 wheels. Whether a motorhome is suitable for self-sufficient camping depends not least on your comfort requirements. You should therefore make sure that there is plenty of storage space available and that a large fresh water and waste water tank is installed. In addition, you should not do without a solar system. This helps to conserve the vehicle battery.
To enable self-sufficient camping, you should prepare your motorhome for this. We have put together an appropriate package for you.
Of course, you should have your motorhome checked by our trained specialist staff have it evaluated. Here you will be given all the tips you need. You will also be introduced to the technical components for your motorhome and a conversion will be discussed.
Our "Autarkic" package includes the following accessories (suitable for motorhomes):
2000 Watt sine wave inverter: converts the 12 V current from the on-board battery to 230 V.
Charging booster: channels the current that the starter battery draws from the alternator to the body battery.
200 watt solar: provide additional energy generation and charge the body battery.
Second battery: Is required to double the maximum current capacity.

Use electricity, water and gas sparingly.
How long you can stand independently
The duration of your self-sufficient travel experience naturally also depends on your lifestyle and planning. You should therefore buy your supplies carefully and stick to a precise rationing system. However, in addition to supplies, electricity, water and gas are of course the most important components that you should pay attention to. It is of course important to have an adequate supply, but also to be aware of how to use it sparingly.
To Electricity you should convert your motorhome to energy-saving LED bulbs. A solar panel also helps to generate the necessary electricity for your daily needs. You should try to use the battery as little as possible, as it is needed to keep the motorhome moving. You should therefore keep a close eye on the charge level. This can be checked via the Control panel control.
Also with the Water consumption you can apply a few cost-saving measures. These include, above all, extensive showering. Keep this to a minimum and always turn off the water when soaping up and shampooing your hair. Using dry shampoo can also significantly minimize water consumption. When cooking, you can also make sure that you only use one pot to cook vegetables and pasta.
These savings measures also reduce the amount of waste water. However, if this tank is to be full, a suitable disposal station must be approached. To have a reserve of water, canisters filled with drinking water are a good idea. These are easy to store in the motorhome and can be used in an emergency.
Before you start your journey, you should Gas cylinders check. It is advisable to fill them completely. Also find out whether the transportation of a second gas cylinder is permitted. If the temperatures are still a little cool and you are using the heating in your motorhome, please note that most heating systems run on gas, so you should also take consumption into account. When cooking, you should focus on quick-cooking dishes to keep consumption to a minimum. Alternatively, you can also use a small charcoal grill for cooking.
You don't want to miss out on a Internet access do without? This is not a problem. However, you should keep an eye on your data volume. If necessary, this can also be topped up via your network provider. You can also use your smartphone as a router if you want to use the Internet via your laptop, for example. To do this, you should familiarize yourself with the required settings on your smartphone beforehand.
We advise you not to be self-sufficient for longer than 2-3 days and to stop at a campsite every now and then and spend a night there. This will allow you to slowly get used to the new feeling of freedom and independence.
