It all started with the usual vacation considerations. Where are we flying to? Do we fly at all? Do we go by car? Camping or hotel? What kind of travel is suitable for a small child? We quickly agreed on Croatia as our vacation destination. Answering the other questions, however, took a little longer. So we sat down together and weighed up the pros and cons. Flying: What if he screams during take-off and landing? How would other passengers react? Breastfeeding mothers being denounced by other passengers went viral on the internet not so long ago. Car: Little storage space and rather uncomfortable on long journeys. In the end, we opted for the camper van. 3500 km of freedom: By motorhome to the Croatian coast.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Plenty of space, comfortable driving and, above all, privacy.<\/h6>\n

We have often seen motorhomes on the highway and have memorized the names of the industry giants. We had various manufacturers make us offers and were amazed at the sums they asked for. When we had almost given up on the idea of a motorhome vacation, we became aware of the Ahorn Camp brand in various camping magazines.<\/p>\n

We read a review about a vacation in Croatia with a Ahorn Camp, which was rated very highly. We therefore decided to ask for a final offer. After a brief email contact, we were assured of a motorhome for our period at incredibly good conditions. So now it was clear: it was going to be a vacation in a motorhome. Full of anticipation, we were able to take delivery of the vehicle the following week.<\/p>\n

The freedom to adapt spontaneously to circumstances without having to give up anything<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We had worked out an approximate route in advance.<\/h6>\n

We definitely wanted to reach the Croatian coast by motorhome. However, it was important to us that we were flexible. We didn't know how the little one would take to the trip in the camper van. We drove off and fell asleep. Hannes only woke up two hours later at our first stop. After a short breastfeeding break, we were able to continue our journey and soon reached our first destination. Once we arrived at the campsite, I was able to connect the ACT 690 PLUS ECO to the power supply thanks to the power cables.<\/p>\n

The awning was very easy to extend and set up. The table and chairs were safely stowed in the trunk and were set up just as quickly. Sandra changed Hannes and I set about preparing dinner. We wanted to be sure that the dinner tasted good, so we had pasta. The two-burner gas hob could easily have been used for more elaborate cooking. But that's down to the cooking skills of the person at the other end of the spoon. Once Hannes was in bed, we planned the route for the next day. The aim was to get to the coast and find a campsite right on the beach.<\/p>\n

The first night in a motorhome. Many people remember the experience of youth hostels and their much too small beds for decades. This was also my initial fear when it came to the sleeping comfort of the motorhome. Two lengthways beds with sufficient width, separated by a smaller mattress. I lay on the left, Sandra on the right and Hannes in the middle. The fact that Hannes had to be breastfed again during the night was purely a matter of habit for Sandra and could easily take place in the camper van.<\/p>\n

The aim was to get to the coast and find a campsite right on the beach.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The next morning was just like the mornings at home.<\/h6>\n

While Hannes was being freshened up, I prepared breakfast. The fridge ran on the campsite's power supply so that the food could be cooled without any problems and we could have breakfast in front of an Austrian mountain panorama in the morning sunshine. Once the washing up was done, the awning retracted and the table and chairs stowed away again, I drove to the service area.<\/p>\n

I emptied the chemical toilet, which could be removed from the outside in a few simple steps, into the toilets provided for this purpose, and I was also able to open and empty the gray water tank with one hand movement. I then filled the fresh water tank from the outside. Thanks to the display above the door, I was able to check the water level.<\/p>\n

So we were ready to continue our road trip. Thrilled by the freedom we hadn't imagined, we drove on towards the Croatian coast. Our journey took us through Istria, northern Dalmatia, across the Plivich Lakes inland and south to Dubrovnik<\/a>. We covered a total of 3,500 kilometers and were ultimately amazed at how easy it was.<\/p>\n

Everything on board and ready to hand at all times. The ability to stop if Hannes can't be calmed down. The freedom to adapt spontaneously to the circumstances without having to give up anything. The security of knowing that the ACT 690 PLUS ECO is available to us as a reliable and mobile home and will bring us home again safely.
