Away game against TSV Tropics Oberhachingen
Final score 103:99BIS Baskets Fail at Startup
Due to an extremely weak performance in the final quarter, Ahorn Camp BIS Baskets Speyer missed the season opener in the 2nd Basketball Bundesliga ProB. Coach Carl Mbassa's team lost at TSV Oberhaching Tropics with 99:103 (58:45), although they had decided the first three periods of play in their favour. "We had dominated the game. But in the last quarter we were overbearing and defended very, very poorly," said BIS sports manager Gerd Kopf.
Before the change of sides, the Palatinate had dominated the events in the Oberhaching hall. The distance shooters from the BIS Baskets were particularly convincing with a hit rate of 59 percent. In the third quarter, Coach Mbassa's charges were in the lead at times with 20 points before the dams broke. The Bavarians later countered with a 12-0 run and put their guests behind. In the end, the Oberhachingers, who also decided the rebound comparison in their favour with 37:23, won the last part of the game with 41:21 points.
Jordan Rezendes (29), Eric Curth (25) and Marc Liyanage (17) from Speyer scored double-digit points. The Bavarians' best throwers were Janosch Kögler and Joris Ortega (both 27) as well as Bernhard Benke (20) and Moritz Wohlers (15).
